StatSheet's MEAC Player of the Week for January 21st goes to Savannah State's Preston Blackman. StatSheet's MEAC Freshman of the Week goes to Hampton's Deron Powers. Finally, Savannah State's Arnold Louis has received StatSheet's MEAC 6th Man of the Week.

Blackman led all of the MEAC in scoring (27.5 pts per game). He also put up a strong showing in rebounding (2 per game), shooting (50%), and assists (4 per game). The Savannah State senior played well for the Tigers in victories against Morgan State and Florida A&M.

Blackman led scoring for the Tigers with 41 points while adding 4 assists in a close 78-70 win against Morgan State. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring with 14 points plus an additional 4 assists in a narrow 57-55 victory against Florida A&M.

This is the first StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week honor for Preston Blackman. The runner-up this week is Adrian Powell, a senior from North Carolina A&T. Honorable mention goes to senior Ray Willis from North Carolina Central.

StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Hampton's Deron Powers

Deron Powers averaged 34 minutes of playing time starting both games for Hampton. His averages in both scoring (17.5 pts per game) and assists (10.0 per game) were the best among all MEAC freshmen. In a 70-64 win over Quinnipiac, Powers led all scoring for the Pirates with 16 points and also pitched in 10 assists. Following that in an 80-78 loss to Morgan State, he led scoring with 19 points plus 10 assists.

This is a repeat honor for Deron Powers, making it the second time he has won StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Kevin Mays from Maryland-Eastern Shore. Honorable mention goes to Bruce Beckford from North Carolina A&T.

StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week: Savannah State's Arnold Louis

Arnold Louis, a senior and a 6-7 forward, averaged 26 minutes of action over the two games for the Tigers. In the win against Morgan State, Louis got 5 points and 12 rebounds. After that, in the win against Florida A&M, he racked up 11 points and 8 rebounds.

This is the second StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week honor for Arnold Louis. Jeremy Underwood, a junior guard from North Carolina A&T, is the runner up. Ishaq Pitt, a sophomore guard from Maryland-Eastern Shore, earns honorable mention. Howard has yet to win StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week.
