Adrien Coleman from Bethune-Cookman has been selected for StatSheet's MEAC Player of the Week for February 25th. Maryland-Eastern Shore's Kevin Mays has won StatSheet's MEAC Freshman of the Week. Coleman put up big numbers in shooting (50%), rebounding (8.5 per game), and assists (5 per game). The Bethune-Cookman junior put these numbers up in victories against Howard and South Carolina State.
Coleman totaled 12 points and 5 assists in 34 minutes in a 64-50 win against Howard. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring and rebounding with 26 points and 11 rebounds in an 85-75 victory over South Carolina State.
This is the first StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week honor for Adrien Coleman. However, he has finished second once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is junior Jeremy Ingram from North Carolina Central. Honorable mention goes to Michael Murray, a junior from Coppin State.
StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Maryland-Eastern Shore's Kevin Mays
Kevin Mays averaged 39 minutes of playing time starting both games for Maryland-Eastern Shore. His averages in both scoring (18.0 pts per game) and rebounding (8.5 per game) topped all MEAC freshmen. In a late 64-62 win over Coppin State, Mays led all rebounding for the Hawks with 12 and also pitched in 4 steals. In a 63-59 loss to Hampton, he totaled 15 points and 5 rebounds.
This is a new honor for Kevin Mays, the first time he has won StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week. Patrick Cole from Coppin State gets runner-up. Rashid Gaston from Norfolk State receives honorable mention. Howard has yet to win StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week.
